Reflection
The boy Samuel heard God’s call while serving in the temple. Though he did not understand at first, Eli guided him to recognize God’s voice. Children can and do hear from God, but they need guidance from faithful mentors.
Discipleship is not only teaching facts but also helping the young discern God’s presence and calling. Like Eli, we are invited to walk alongside them as they learn to respond, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”
