A Firm Foundation – Day 22: Building Up the Next Generation
Date: Sunday, October 26, 2025
Psalm 145:4–5 (NIV); Matthew 19:14 (NIV)
Reflection
Each generation has the holy task of declaring God’s works to the next. Psalm 145 reminds us that God’s greatness is proclaimed “one generation to another.” Jesus Himself welcomed children, insisting that the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.
To invest in the next generation is to invest in God’s future work. Children and youth are not the “church of tomorrow”—they are part of the church today. Our calling is to nurture their faith, equip them with God’s Word, and create spaces where they know they belong, are loved, and can grow as disciples of Christ.
Reflection Prompts
Who invested in your spiritual growth when you were young?
How might you be called to encourage children and youth in your community?
Discussion Questions
What does it mean to see children as part of the church now, not just in the future?
Why is it vital for each generation to pass on stories of God’s greatness?
How does Jesus’ welcome of children shape our view of ministry?
Weekly Activity Ideas
Share a Bible story or personal testimony with a child or teen this week.
Volunteer together as a family in children’s or youth ministry.
Pray daily for one young person in your church by name.
Closing Prayer
God of every generation, thank You for the children and youth in our lives and community. Give us wisdom to nurture them, courage to invest in them, and love to welcome them as You do. May their faith flourish for Your glory. Amen.
